Florence's live scene, up close
Florence doesn't have the concert density of a metropolis, but what it offers is often high quality and set in venues you won't find elsewhere: Renaissance churches for chamber music, historic palazzo courtyards for jazz, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for one of Italy's most important opera and symphonic seasons. For big international names, there's one reference point: the Nelson Mandela Forum, the city's arena for large-scale indoor tours.
Below the arena, the scene splits between historic theaters that also host concerts (Teatro Verdi, Teatro Cartiere Carrara) and clubs dedicated to international live music, like the Tenax with its Viper Theatre hall, a historic reference for rock and indie. For jazz and acoustic music, series in churches and auditoriums in the center (like the Auditorium of Santo Stefano al Ponte) offer an intimate experience, far from the noise of big concerts.
How to read the lineup
This page collects the concerts scheduled today: Italian and international artists, genres from classical music to indie rock, formats from a solo string quartet to an arena concert. Every event is tagged with the venue, start time and, where available, the minimum price.
Ticketing links point directly to the official platform (TicketOne, Vivaticket, Eventbrite). When a concert is sold out we flag it with a badge: the link stays active because seats sometimes free up at the last minute, but know that the event is officially sold out.

Typical times and practical tips
In Florence, concerts follow fairly standard hours. 8:30-9pm is the typical door time at clubs and theaters, 9-9:30pm the actual start of the show. At the Nelson Mandela Forum, for big concerts, doors often open well before the show starts: allow time for entry and security checks. The historic center is compact and easy to walk, but for Campo di Marte (Mandela Forum) the tram is the way to go.
If you're going to the theater for a classical or chamber music concert, arrive a few minutes early: many historic Florence venues are small, and latecomer entry isn't always guaranteed.

Before and after the concert
The generator from Serata Perfetta is built to solve exactly the "where do we eat now?" part. Pick your theme and budget, and get a restaurant and a cocktail bar just steps from the center. For a nightcap, the Oltrarno and Santa Croce stay lively well past midnight.
